Accessing Corrective Actions in Beacon is now controlled by Permissions and Roles assigned to an user. Permissions for users to add, edit, and delete events and tasks in a Corrective Action are managed on a per-role basis.


Roles and Permissions Details

  1. Each user has a default (system) role, plus a specific role(s) that determine their access to Corrective Actions 
  2. Roles can be fully customized for each organization
  3. List of Roles and settings of permissions in the system is global
  4. There was four default roles defined for each organization (listed below) with a set of permissions defined. Pre-defined roles can be customized to any set of permissions
  5. Only Organization Admins have the ability to edit and customize roles for the organization
  6. When editing roles for an user
    1. Site Admin can only Add/ Remove roles they have for other users
    2. Org Admin can Add/Remove any roles for other users

Approve Event

Can Approve a Corrective Action event, if assigned as an event approver

Users having this permission can be assigned as Event Approvers to any Corrective Actions Events within their scope; when assigned as an event approver a user can approve or reject a pending Corrective Action
Approve Task
Can approve a Task within the Corrective Action, if assigned as a Task approver

Users having this permission can be assigned as Task Approvers to any Corrective Actions Tasks (including validation tasks) within their scope; when assigned as a task approver a user can approve or reject a pending Corrective Action Task and/or validation tasks

Close Task
Can close a task they have been assigned to
Users having this permission can be assigned as Task Owners to any Corrective Action Tasks (including validation tasks) within their scope; when assigned as a task owner a user can close an open Corrective Action Task and/or validation tasks, also attach files to the task
Delete event

Can Delete any Corrective Action within their scope

Users having this permission can delete any Corrective Action that is within their scope irrespective of being assigned to the Corrective Action or not

Edit Any Open Event

Can Edit any open Corrective Action within their scope

Users having this permission can edit any Open Corrective Actions within their scope; they can edit the due date of the event, edit the description, add event attachments, add or delete owners and approvers, create new tasks, edit fields

Edit Open Events
Can be assigned as event owners and edit any Corrective Action they have been assigned to

  1. Users having this permission can be assigned as Corrective Action Event Owners 
  2. Users having this permission can edit Open Corrective Actions only if they are assigned as an initiator, owner or approver to the Corrective Action; they can edit the due date of the event, edit the description, add event attachments, add or delete owners and approvers, create new tasks, edit fields 
  3. Users having this permission can Submit an open Corrective Action Event only if they are assigned as the Owners for the Event
Edit Any Task

Can Edit open or pending tasks in any open Corrective Action within their scope

Users having this permission can edit open (in-progress) or pending tasks within any Corrective Action in their scope; they can edit due dates of tasks, task owner, and task approver

Edit and Delete Event Task
Can Edit and Delete event specific tasks for Corrective Actions they have been assigned to
Users having this permission can edit and delete only open event specific tasks for Open Corrective Actions only if they are assigned as an owner or approver to the Corrective Action ; they can edit the tasks description, title, task related field checkboxes like 'Require Approval', 'Validation Task', 'Require Attachments' and 'Notify Next Open Task Owner'
Edit Task
Can Edit open tasks in any open Corrective Action they have been assigned to

Users having this permission can edit open tasks for an open Corrective Action only if they are assigned as an initiator, owner or approver to the Corrective Action; they can edit due dates of tasks, task owner, and task approver

Initiate event

Can Initiate a Corrective Action event within their scope

Users having this permission can initiate a new Corrective Action from Reports > Corrective Action Page only for location within their scope
Manage Document

Can Manage Corrective Action documents with their scope
Users having this permission can view, define and create a new document (template) of Corrective Action; they can define the tasks, fields and scope of the document and also be assigned as approvers for the document

Re-Open Tasks
Can re-open closed tasks for Corrective Actions they have been assigned to
Users having this permission can re-open closed tasks for an open Corrective Action only if they are assigned as an initiator, owner, or approver to the Corrective Action
View
Can view all Corrective Actions within your scope

This is a default permission assigned to any user if one or more of the above permissions are enabled for a role; users having this permission view all Corrective Actions (Reports > Corrective Actions) within their scope
